Virtual reality increases on-the-job confidence

Article Abstract:

The use of virtual-reality training in the manufacturing industry is gaining popularity. Motorola Corp, for instance, which has used the training since 1994, has relied on the technology's advantages. Virtual reality training allows users to learn by working in a computer-simulated environment, thus reducing training costs while providing employees the chance to operate various machines. Employees are then given an overview of what to expect because the simulated environment allows them to learn how to start, run and stop the machine and troubleshoot problems.

Motion analysis system provides advantages

Article Abstract:

IVEC Inc, manufacturer of high-speed automation equipment and assembly machines, subjects its products to real-time video analysis with the Kodak EktaPro motion analyzer. The EktaPro analyzer is capable of cutting down the equivalence of two to four weeks of manual labor. The high-speed motion analysis equipment provides engineers with the capability of examining machine performance, even with equipment running at speeds of 350 to 800 strokes per minute. The technology results in a 5% to 10% savings in machine building time.
