The Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Electrical Appliances (AMDEA) is backing a public campaign in the UK to promote the use of domestic electric heating. The initiative, supported by Dimplex, Creda and Unidare, includes an online service and an information leaflet. Meanwhile, AMDEA is lobbying parliament and public advisory bodies to promote electric heating as energy efficient and environmentally friendly.

Air curtains function by creating a barrier across a doorway, repelling the cold air, thus preventing heat loss. Units are available for any type of aperture operated by steam, electricity, gas or hot water. The market for air curtains is lucrative and offers new business opportunities for the electrical contractor.
