Rays in the roof

Article Abstract:

Moves in the UK to increase the use of renewable energy sources will have a significant impact on the work of planners. This is particularly the case with solar energy, for which large arrays are required. Protection from shadowing will become a key issue, with new developments needing to be designed to ensure that each householder has access to adequate sunlight. There may be calls for trees to be removed if they block sunlight, and this will have both ecological and environmental implications.
