Safety technologies meet harder challenge: advances in intelligent safety relays and controllers fulfil the needs of new regulations, some of which are about to be applied retroactively

Article Abstract:

New machinery made after 1994 has to conform with the latest European Machinery and Work Equipment Regulations. However, few engineers realise that existing machines must comply with the new rules by start-1997. To meet the demand for retrofitting, Pilz has introduced a new line of safety relays, smaller than previous units and including models particularly suitable for retrofitting. The safety controllers are able to test circuitry up to and beyond Category 4 requirements.
