Silicon Valley dreams beckon to Malaysia leaders

Article Abstract:

Malaysian Science, Technology and Environment Minister Law Hieng Deng believes that investments in research and development will further the country's ambition to become a highly-industrialized economy. As R&D continues to penetrate the service sector, research teams learn to work faster, heed customers

Article Abstract:

The growth of the service sector, at a rate that is 10 times that of non-service industries, has led to an increase in funding for R&D initiatives. The focus of R&D, traditionally in the manufacturing industries, is shifting to service industries such as finance, trade, real estate, engineering , health and insurance. The shift has also resulted in the determination of two of the most important aspects of R&D for services, speed of operation and customer participation.
