Smart radiators are powerless to adapt

Article Abstract:

A post-doctoral student at the Department of Engineering Science in The University of Oxford has developed a four-layer coated structure that enables the surface of space satellites to radiate energy when hot and retains energy when cold. The system is designed to work with infrared wave lengths in a space environment but it could also be used in other land based systems with slight modifications in materials.
