Sovereign immunity sheild impacts collborative research patents

Article Abstract:

The new trend in the research and development activities in chemical industry is discussed, where universities are making research agreement with private companies. In such agreements the ownership of research patent on the collaborative invention are usually becoming a reason for dispute.

Biomimicking bandages

Scientists at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, have devised a process of electrospinning to produce fibrinogen bandages. They created a nanofiber mat to place on a bleeding site to help clotting. NanoMatrix has licensed the procedure.

Novel nanotube technology piloted

Article Abstract:

Single-walled nanotubes are produced by SouthWest NanoTechnologies Inc. using a catalytic process that lowers production costs. The process was developed at the University of Oklahoma and financed by ConocoPhilips.
