Succeed at process development

Article Abstract:

Chemical process development can involve the development of new product, a new technology or a new market. Eleven techniques to boost the chances of translating an idea into a commercial process are described. Among these are the development of a mathematical mode, identification and adoption of a less-than-optimum process strategy, development of two processes in tandem, evaluation of batch vs continuous operation and use of standard and new equipment.

Succeed at gas/liquid contacting

Article Abstract:

Chemical processors choosing a suitable gas/liquid contactor can try composing a wish list to narrow down the choices eliminating or selecting contactors based on features, advantages and disadvantages. A wish list may include these factors: maximum conversion of reactants; minimum environmental impacts; ease of automation and process control; simplicity of scale-up; and greatest selectivit for desired products.
