TE supplement lacks necessary infrastructure

Article Abstract:

Several firms are being audited to the requirements before they are required and before registrars are accredited and auditors trained, in a desire to follow the tooling and equipment (TE) requirements included in the automotive industry's QS-9000. Registration to QS-9000's TE supplement is not required nor available because of the absence of an infrastructure to support the third-party registration. To address the problem, TQM consultants Inc in Plymouth , MI is developing a process to provide auditor training classes and an exam for TE registration.

Auto industry ready to help with QS-9000 registration

Article Abstract:

First tier automotive suppliers have announced their willingness to help QS-9000 registrars by offering them free services of their own auditors. These auditors will work under a lead auditor hired by a registrar. However, the offer of free auditing services were unwritten. The registrars' task of handling QS-9000 certification for tier-one suppliers become more difficult as demand for compliance with QS-9000 standards increases.

Will QS-9000 disappear?

Article Abstract:

The replacement of QS-9000, an automotive quality standard, by two other automotive standards, the German automotive standard VDA 6.1 and the Geneva International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard TS 16949 causes the automotive industry to worry. TS 16949, recognized by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), appears to hold the answer since it is a harmonization of the QS-9000 and VDA 6.1 requirements.
