The direct approach

Article Abstract:

UK-based electrical suppliers firm Fans Direct has launched a direct telephone service to sell electric fans to the electrical industry. Managing director Bob Duczenko claims the direct selling approach is quicker, cheaper and easier than purchasing through a wholesaler. Fans Direct incorporates a technical helpline which is essential when choosing the right equipment. The company also runs a scheme which ensures next day delivery, or the fan is given to the customer free of charge.

A unique approach to conservation

Article Abstract:

A case study is presented on Malawi's use of fuel briquette technology to convert garden and paper wastes into an alternative energy source, a process developed to enhance the impacts of recycling and to slow deforestation. An elemental composition analysis of emissions produced by burning the briquettes showed that levels of potential carcinogens are well below acceptable levels.
