The UK construction industry should ensure it respects and rewards the work carried out by electrical contractors. Industry training methods have moved towards continuous assessment, which places the emphasis on workplace learning and development. Training must include the very latest technological developments, otherwise the industry will suffer in terms of service and quality.

'Constructing the team' of 1994 recommended the collaboration of contractors and clients early on in project development in order to avoid the wastefulness of reworking a design at a later stage. The suggestions are starting to be implemented.
