Two ways to gian CE mark

Article Abstract:

LEC Marine (Lowestoft) Ltd. has achieved the CE mark for electromagnetic compatibility for its range of constant voltage battery chargers. It believes its experience of the process of attaining the standard would be useful to other companies. LEC Marine followed both possible routes to accreditation. The equipment was tested independently to a range of standards and a technical construction file was produced detailing the steps taken to ensure compliance with the regulations.

Using Drosophila to find new ways to prevent neurodegenerative disease

Article Abstract:

Drosophila melanogaster, the common fruit fly has been used in the search for new ways for preventing neurodegenerative brain disease by finding the relevant genes. A form of the Machado-Joseph disease gene has been expressed in the brain of the fly. The gene causes spinocerebellar ataxia type-3 (SCA-3). Human brain degeneration associated with polyglutamine disease can be studied using flies.
