What to look for in window insulation: a clear view of heat loss through glazing tells the difference between true insulating products and mere window treatments

Article Abstract:

Window insulation is a key energy-saving tool, as well as providing noise-reduction, light control, weatherization, and privacy. Buyers should consider efficiency, appearance, ease of operation and storage, durability, maintenance and safety problems. Exterior shades or shutters, insulators between the glazings, and interior shades or shutters are the main types.

Designs for worship: everywhere we looked in our national survey, we found congregations turning to solar architecture for symbolic and practical reasons

Article Abstract:

Sensitivity to community-leadership and stewardship roles has encouraged solar church design. Solar is easier in new buildings rather than retrofits. Proper zoning is important, with the sanctuary used far less than office space. Conservation and passive solar are cheaper than active solar.
