Article Abstract:
A new interconnection architecture, known as crosspoint, crossbar or switch, is now being used in computer circuits to replace buses. The bus wires have been conventionally used in computer circuits to connect components such as motherboards and video cards. The buses have always reduced the functioning speed of a system. The use of switches helps increase the speed of the computer during the execution of a program.

A crosspoint implementation
Article Abstract:
The implementation of crosspoints or switches in computer circuits involves several technical changes in the hardware. The use of crosspoints instead of buses increases the speed and efficiency of a computer. Crosspoints are expensive and require new hardware mechanisms to remove heat from the computer boards. The modification of the internal circuits requires the introduction of 72-bit ports or VME 60 boards.
