Community structure and positive interactions in constraining environments

Article Abstract:

The study shows the direct experimental measure of neighbors' effect which showed the positive interactions among species prevailed in communities where positive species associations dominated. The result provides a link between spatial patterns and species interactions, where aggregations points to positive interactions and segregations to competitive or interference effects, facilitation appears as a relevant process shaping communities under environmental constraints.

Rethinking plant community theory

Article Abstract:

Plant communities are traditionally viewed as either a random collection of individuals or as organismal entities. An attempt is made to assert that an explicit re-consideration f fromal community theory must incorporate interactions that are recently been prominent in plant ecology, namely facilitation and indirect effects among competitors.

Changes in plant interactions along a gradient of environmental stress

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that environmental stress in plant populations manifests as a decline in facilitation, instead of changes in competition, and correspond to abiotic conditions. Studies were performed on the Spanish leguminous shrub Retama sphaerocarpa and associated understorey plant species.
