Cost-effective strategies for reducing nitrogen deposition in Europe

Article Abstract:

Simultaneous reduction of nitrogen oxide and ammonia emissions can result in significant reductions in nitrogen deposition as well major cost-savings of about 13% to 80%. The cost-savings will come mainly from elimination of expensive nitrogen oxide emission control systems such as the US-1991 standard for automobiles. A discussion of the implications of such a finding on current emission control strategies in Europe is presented.

Allocating anthropogenic pollutant emissions over space: application to ozone pollution management

Article Abstract:

The article identifies different types of air pollution associated with different types of vehicles and equipment for the Tucson, Arizona, metropolitan area. High levels of nitrogen oxides were linked to on-road motor vehicles, while volatile organic compounds were linked to residential wood combustion and lawn and garden equipment usage.

Effects of anthropogenic fire history on savanna vegetation in northeastern Namibia

Article Abstract:

The effects of fire frequency to understand changes in vegetation cover, life form species richness and savanna conditions are investigated. The result shows that bush cover homogenization at landscape and regional scales indicate the problem of widespread bush encroachment.
