Deforestation impact on water dynamics in a Venezuelan Andean cloud forest

Article Abstract:

A breakdown is presented on the origin and impact of water at La Mucuy, a cloud forest within the Venezuelan Andes. Incoming water is comprised of 9% could moisture and 91% rainfall, with percentages given for throughfall to the ground, forest litter interception, transpiration loss and surface runoff; total foliage interception drew 51% of all incoming water.

Toward modeling regionally specific human security using GIS: Case study Cambodia

Article Abstract:

A three-stage methodology, threat assessment, data collection and organization, and data visualization and analysis, was used for measuring human security with help of a study in Cambodia. Regions of Cambodia exposed to poverty, dengue fever, and tuberculosis are located and spatial correlation between these threats is calculated.

Assessment of the geomorphic impacts of forestry in British Columbia

Article Abstract:

An overview is presented on British Columbia's Forest Practices Code of 1995, and the categories it targets to reduce the negative environmental impacts of timber harvesting. These categories include terrain stability, fluvial geomorphology, integrated watershed behavior and forest hydrology.
