Long-term decline in numbers of cyclic voles in boreal Sweden: analysis and presentation of hypotheses

Article Abstract:

The declines in numbers and amplitude were largely linked to an increased frequency and/or accentuation of winter declines, which more or less neutralized or even overrode the density increase during the reproductive season in the previous summer, especially so in the second year of the cycles. Some hypotheses are presented and discussed to make understand the causes of the increase of winter declines and the decrease of densities and amplitudes.

The concept of sexually transmitted disease in plants: definition and applicability

Article Abstract:

The sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and other infectious diseases (OIDs) in plants are defined, to determine if STDs are common in nature, and if the terms are enough to describe the complexity of diseases in plants. In addition, an introduction of a third disease group called reproductive diseases (RDs) is proposed.

Abundance and viability of fungal spores along a forestry gradient - responses to habitat loss and isolation?

Article Abstract:

The regional variation in spore deposition and viability of Fomitopsis rosea and Phlebia centrifuga is investigated. The combination of low spore deposition and low germinability of spores is a potential threat to the long-term persistence of Fomitopsis rosea and Phlebia centrifuga in southern Sweden.
