Money and environmental groups: how clean is 'green?'(Money, Politics and the Environment)(includes related information on contributors to the environmental movement)(Cover Story)

Article Abstract:

Environmental organizations rely on contributions and the formation of Earth Shares, a grouping of 43 such organizations, helps centralize the fundraising efforts. There was, however, a disagreement at Earth Shares concerning the request by corporations to exclude certain members from their contributions.

Following the money in politics

Article Abstract:

Political action committees contribute to the campaign of political candidates that will help them espouse their causes. However, these are small when compared to the contributions of business groups. Steps in checking the bias in campaign finance practices are presented.

Women's occupational health and workplace politics

The division of labor along gender lines has slowed fixing unsafe working conditions in occupations such as clerical work, retail, food service and cosmetologists. Inspections and legislation about these hazardous jobs can no longer be overlooked.
