Nature parks, museums, gardens, and zoos for biodiversity conservation and environment education: the Philippines

Article Abstract:

Nature recreation sights in the Philippines could be used to provide nonformal environmental education to residents and stalling the rapid decline of biological diversity of the region. There are no national botanical, garden, zoo or aquarium sites in the Philippines. In addition the 116 national parks and protected areas have been exploited.

Declining biodiversity in agricultural landscapes and the effectiveness of agri-environment schemes

Article Abstract:

The effects of agri-environment schemes on farmland birds performed in Great Britain and The Netherlands is discussed. Continuous evaluation and adaptation of the agri-environment schemes is needed to enable the biodiversity on farmland to recover from the European Union's former policy.

The structure and behavior of the grey seal 'halichoerus grypus' breeding group of the Dutch Wadden Sea

Article Abstract:

Grey seal numbers have been increasing for a number of years in the Wadden Zee regions of the Netherlands. Nearly driven to extinction by hunting for hundreds of years, the seal population is growing. The sexual and breeding behavior of one colony is observed.
