Trophic egg laying: Hypotheses and tests

Article Abstract:

The importance of elucidating the adaptive function of trophic eggs is stressed through explicit hypothesis testing to outline key experiments that can test adaptive and functional hypotheses. With increased focus on theory and hypothesis testing, the study of trophic eggs can offer important insight into topics such as sibling rivalry, parent offspring conflict, and parental care.

Form defining function: Interpreting leaf functional variability in integrated plant phenotypes

Article Abstract:

The interpretation of leaf functional variability could be advanced by considering how leaf biomass is allocated in integrated plant body plans. Any examination of leaf trait strategies should consider that leaves function within the broader biological context of the individual plant, as the adaptive value of a phenotype must be measured in terms of individual fitness.

Plastic and constant developmental traits contribute to adaptive difference in co-occurring Polygonum species

Article Abstract:

The adaptive aspects of seedling development are highly focused in order to understand how constant and plastic trait expression jointly influences ecological distribution in the given two Polygonum species. Constant and plastic aspects of these traits are documented and selection analyses are used to examine their effects of fitness.
