Trophic structure in a large assemblage of phyllostomid bats in Panama

Article Abstract:

Trophic structure in a species-rich local assemblage of phyllostomids is studied, for which dietary data were collected during ten years on Barro Colorado Island, Panama. Findings suggest a high probability of the overall trophic structure is determined as the trophic structure of the local contemporary assemblage is largely conservative with respect to traceable ancestral habits.

Structure in plant-animal interaction assemblages

Article Abstract:

A comprehensive approach to detect pattern in assemblages of plant and animal species linked by interactions such as pollination, frugivory or herbivory is presented. A plant-pollinator assemblage exemplifies a simple nested pattern, whereas a plant-herbivore assemblage illustrates a compound pattern with nested structures within compartments.

Linking habitat structure and orientation in an arboreal species Gehyra variegata (Gekkonidae)

Article Abstract:

A translocation experiment in which fluorescent powder were used to study the ability of the arboreal gecko Gehyra variegata to orientate successfully between trees is reported. The relocation experiment demonstrated the ability of translocated geckos to return to the tree of initial capture.
