The term 'facially valid' was used by FBI general counsel Howard M. Shapiro both with and without the hyphen. The reasons why it should have no hyphen are discussed. Not only did Boonville, CA develope a late 19th century lingo, but Irving Clifford in his new book, 'The Spring,' uses a Colorado variant.
