Adaptive cost-effective ambient charges under incomplete information

Article Abstract:

The question of whether it is plausible for environment authorities to come up with cost-effective, ambient emission standards which pollution sources can meet was examined. The research indicates that authorities do not have adequate pollution control costs to develop emission standards. It may be viable to develop a pollution control strategy grounded on ambient charges and relationships with sources and receptors taking into account pragmatic assumptions on the information available and the role of the environmental agency, however.

Estimating the cost of leisure time for recreation demand models

Article Abstract:

A method was proposed to identify the opportunity cost of leisure time with an empirical recreation demand application. Compared with other commonly used methods, the proposed method does not suffer from drawbacks associated with trade time of individuals. It has the ability to provide value of time estimates for both employed and unemployed respondents. Because of its sensitiveness to the labor market position of each respondents, varied leisure time cost estimates are generated.

A discrete-count model of recreational demand

Article Abstract:

A study presents an alternative approach for linking the discrete choice model to a demand model for conventional welfare changes estimation. Discrete choice models give rise to welfare measures that result from environmental quality changes based on each trip made instead of over a longer, more policy-relevant time period. Such models are usually developed to increase the participation of all individuals as a result of the increased quality of any site.
