Investing upfront in a compost factory

Article Abstract:

Land Recovery Inc's new 154,000 sq ft compost factory near Tacoma, WA, is designed to handle more than 250 tons a day of a wide range of organic feedstocks, including commercial food residuals and yard trimmings. It is currently handling 200 tons a day, with eight employees working seven days a week. Strong emphasis has been placed on controlling odour emissions, and a high-tech odour management system was a key element of the $11 million capital investment in the facility.
