Biogas project advances in California

Article Abstract:

The California Prison Industry Authority will install three anaerobic digesters at the materials recovery facility in Folsom, CA. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory has approved the high solids anaerobic digester project which is meant for producing biogas. The biogas will then be purchased by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District for use in a fuel cell power plant.

The plant's steam demand is met by automatic fuel switching from biogas to natural gas that helps maximum amount of digester gas to be utilized.
