Collecting residential yard trimmings

Article Abstract:

Different strategies are being implemented for the collection of residential yard trimmings. Chicago is issuing blue bags for residents'yard waste rather than kraft bags which were not popular. A composting company in Michigan banned plastic waste bags because they affected the composting process but biodegradable containers are still permitted as long as they degrade within a given time. A yard trimming programme in Omaha failed because residents did not like having to put their bags out onto the street, not did they like having it collected on a different day.
