Composting site for Vancouver Island

Article Abstract:

Consolidated Envirowaste Technologies Inc. has agreed to assume the responsibility of managing Vancouver Island Capital Regional District's planned composting facility. CRD plans to begin construction of the facility in Jun. 1996 and start full-scale operations by 1997. The facility is expected to handle solid wastes from commercial and residential buildings in Vancouver Island.

Crab composter gets claws on new feedstocks

Article Abstract:

New Earth Services has moved to a new site and in 1997 is expected to produce a total of 11,000 tons of compost. In collaboration with the University of Maryland, New Earth Services began development of a method of composting crab waste in 1992. The compost is now sold as Chesapeake Blue lawn and garden fertilizer. The company also composts chicken manure, clam and food waste.
