Egg farm finds composting key to manure management

Article Abstract:

Wegmans Egg Farm in Wolcott, New York had concerns about manure management and it was decided that composting was the best method of dealing with the waste generated at the farm. An agitated bay system was established for the approximately 100 tons/day of manure generated. Manure is cleaned out each day and dropped into an auger and is then transported to the compost building where it is mixed using sawdust and finished compost.
