Swedish city uses anaerobic technology

Article Abstract:

The waste processing plant at Boras, Sweden, handles source separated refuse from Boras and a neighbouring municipality. The plant, which has optical sorting, two-step anaerobic degradation and postcomposting facilities, handles 10,700 tons of combustibles and 7,300 tons of putrescibles a year. This is the first digestion plant for source separated refuse in Sweden. Strong emphasis is placed on source separation of refuse to gain a pure putrescible fraction.
