Innovative dropoff systems in Amsterdam

Article Abstract:

Two decentralized dropoff systems are under pilot test in Amsterdam: source separated materials-above ground containers (MSTS) and a new underground storage tank system (METRO). Use of MSTS and METRO has suspended all curbside collection of waste in those areas. A review of the dropoff systems has shown that the METRO system is cost effective in very densely populated areas and MSTS makes sense for areas of moderate density.
