Overview of anaerobic digestion technologies in Europe

Article Abstract:

The processes involved in the market segment 'source separated organic waste (SSOW) digestion' and 'municipal solid waste (MSW) digestion' including residential and commercial SSOW is explained. The renewable energy laws with the objective of promoting sustainable energy production have described the development of anaerobic digestion technologies for SSOW and MSW in Europe.

Using mechanical- biological treatment for MSW in Europe

It is stated that incineration is rated "second best" and increasing restrictions on residual waste permitted to landfill have led to growing interest in Mechanical-Biological Treatment (MBT). Later aims were made to address the confusion by describing the different MBT systems available.

Comparison of screening methods to refine MSW compost

Article Abstract:

A comparison of screening methods to refine MSW compost is presented. The aim is to determine whether passing compost through ball screen, an 18.75 mm trommel screen, or twice through an 18.75 mm trommel screen leads to the lowest levels of Foreign matter (FM).
