Recycling gypsum from C&D debris

Article Abstract:

New West Gypsum has shifted its services from the disposal of gypsum to its recycling for the wall board industry. The Greater Vancouver Regional District, Vancouver, British Columbia, banned landfill disposal of waste gypsum in 1984, forcing manufacturers to consider alternative waste management strategies. New West developed a system that pulverizes, cleans and mixes moist and dry gypsum to come up with a product with minimum paper backing inclusion and low moisture content. The company has recycling plants in Vancouver, Toronto and Ontario in Canada and Tacoma, WA. Another is being set up in Burlington, NJ.
