The optimal joint provision of water for irrigation and hydropower

Article Abstract:

The apparent inability of cooperative water supply organizations (WSOs) in the western United States to allot optimally water for irrigation and electricity production owes to an inability of these groups to state clear property rights to the scarce water resources. Efficient control of these groups is in the hands of farmer-members, who obtain benefits only as users and not as owners.

A trading-ratio system for trading water pollution discharge permits

Article Abstract:

A trading-ratio system (TRS) of tradable discharge permits for controlling water pollution is designed using the property of water that it flows to the lowest level uni-directionally. The TRS can take care of the location effect of a discharge and can achieve the predetermined standards of environmental quality.

Basinwide water management: a spatial model

Article Abstract:

A spatial a model for a water basin that allows for surface water allocation and reuse of the water that is lost, is presented. The results suggest that when conservation technologies are used, a significant increase in output, project area and water use is achieved.
