Trimming away disposal costs

Article Abstract:

Westmark Products Inc has partnered with a local company, Corporate Recycling Services Inc to get rid of the waste generated by its woodworking plant. Westmark's recycling efforts are aimed at reducing disposal costs amounting to $300 daily or an annual budget of $85,000. Corporate Recycling Services initially hired a composter which can take care of the firm's mixed residuals. Its next step was to increase the existing recycling volumes and adding metal recycling. As a result, Westmark Products' disposal savings as well as janitorial and sanitation hours have increased.

Compatibility of digestion and composting

Article Abstract:

A new perspective is implemented combining biogas capture and composting in dual facilities where composting plays a secondary role as post treatment stabilization after energy capture from the fresh feedstock. This approach is being modeled in some US research laboratories such as Woods End and the University of California, Davis and tested at green waste recovery facilities such as Norcal Waste Systems in California, potato processors in Canada and aquaculture facilities in Maine.
