Financial aid to Hispanic students lags

Article Abstract:

A new report from the policy organization Excelencia in Education states that while the percent percentage of Hispanic college student receiving federal aid is at an all-time high, the amount of aid they receive continues to be the lowest of all minority groups. The study How Latino students Pay for College, Patterns of Financial Aid in 2003-04, reveals that Hispanic students received an average aid of award of only $6,250 in 2003-04, compared with the national average of $6,890.

The distinct features of the schools are discussed in terms of Hispanic student enrollment, internship programs, training, guidance and career placements for Hispanic students.

Bridging the gap: While disparity in equity funding for Hispanic firms persists, double bottom line investing could be the solution

Article Abstract:

Equity investment funding has increased in recent years, but the proportion of it going to the Hispanic entrepreneurs has diminished due to various reasons. The double bottom line (DBL) investment fund model might better match many growing Hispanic firms' needs as DBL funds invest in emerging businesses that also enhance the economic health of their communities.
