Rx for Hispanic health care: more doctors

Article Abstract:

The shortage of Hispanic physicians is linked to the quality of medical service to Hispanics. Dr. J. Mario Molina heads a medical facility which caters to predominantly Hispanic, though there are very few Hispanic doctors, a trend which is repeated throughout the country. An article in the Journal of the American Medical Association by economist Eli Ginzberg concludes that increasing Hispanic medical professionals would improve Hispanic health care services.

Hispanic American athletes who plan to compete at the 1996 Summer Olympics include judo team members Orlando Fuentes, Rene Capo and Celita Schutz; swimmer Cristina Teuscher; and softball team member Lisa Fernandez. Others will compete in volleyball, tennis, cycling and women's basketball.
