Mexican telecommunications companies Alestra, Avantel, and Telmex have launched aggressive marketing campaigns and invested in new technology such as fiber-optics and computer technology in their attempts to capture the local market for telecommunication services including telephone service.

Census tally won't tumble

A federal task force has developed recommendations that focused on how Hispanics are counted by the US Census and other government agencies. The 2000 Census will rearrange the questions in the survey form. Persons will also be permitted to indicate more than one race.
