Advice on gardening and harvesting is offered. Vegetables, for instance, can be covered with newspaper to protect them against the cold. Snapdragons can survive the winter. Homegrown carrots can be stored for 2 weeks prior to eating to increase the vitamin C content. Tomatoes, cucumbers, and squash tastes best if not watered 2-3 days prior to harvesting.

Easy roses

Easy-to-care-for roses include ground covers, hedges and climbers. Shrub roses make good starters for novice gardeners. Shrubs typically grow up to 18 inches tall and require little pruning. Most shrubs bloom all summer.
