Divorce-related transitions, adolescent development, and the role of the parent-child relationship: a review of the literature

Article Abstract:

Literary works on family relationships, adolescent development and the effect of divorce on adolescents provide a wealth of information on the nature of parent-adolescent relationships during divorce-related transition periods. An analysis of these works would show that adolescents are affected by divorces differently than the younger children. In addition, positive parent-child relations can mitigate the negative impact of divorce.
