"Don't read in the dark!" ... and other health rules our parents were wrong about

Children's health is of utmost importance to parents but most of the well-meaning advice that parents get are more mythical than factual. Among the health myths that have lingered include the belief that reading in the dark ruins eyesight and a baby that is always carried will be spoiled.

Tummy troubles: why kids get stomachaches, and what parents can do

Stomach troubles for children can be easily diagnosed. Causes of stomach aches in children include overeating of foods high in sugar and/or fat, constipation, lactose intolerance, diet products and gastroesophageal reflux.
