Feminists and the ideology and practice of marital equality

Article Abstract:

An interview-based study of 20 married female and male feminists revealed that, despite major differences in the ideology and actual practice of equality in marriage, the quality of marriages for women can be substantially enhanced by following marital equality. Married couples believing and practicing matrimonial equality displayed their ideologies by public opposition of acts of gender subjugation and reflective assessment.

Predicting change in marital satisfaction from husbands' and wives' conflict resolution styles

Article Abstract:

A study of the attitudes of 155 married couples illustrated that husbands' marital satisfaction was hinged on their spouses' effective resolution of conflicts. Managing conflicts is a much-needed step in ensuring the success of marriages by satisfying both the husbands and their wives, thereby providing for harmonious matrimonial life.

Do marital conventionalization scales measure a social desirability response bias? A confirmatory factor analysis

Article Abstract:

Confirmatory factor analytic results with 101 married participants elucidates that marital conventionalization scales fail to indicate social desirability bias in reports of marital quality. This indicates marital conceptualization to be more a measure of marital quality assessment and less representative of social desirability.
