Patterns and correlates of personal, family, and prior placement variables in an interagency community based system of care

Article Abstract:

Personal, family, and prior service utilization variables among emotionally disturbed children and adolescents participating in an interagency community based system of care are interrelated. Family history of violence, substance abuse, and mental illness can determine placement in systems of care. IQ and specific mental disorder diagnosis are relatively unimportant, but having any mental disorder increases susceptibility to interagency placement. Medication and adjudication serve as alternative treatment options. Five clusters with characteristic placement usage are presented.
