Trajectories of grandparents' perceived solidarity with adult grandchildren: a growth curve analysis over 23 years

Article Abstract:

Patterns of change in grandparents' beliefs about affection and in-person contact and geographic nearness with adult grandchildren over five points of measurement between 1971 and 1994 were determined. Information from the Longitudinal Study of Generations were employed. Hierarchical linear modeling showed quadratic trends in both growth curves. Affection decreased over the first 14 years and then gradually reversed.

Parents can help their babies develop their motor skills in several ways. From one to four months, they can help their babies move their head from side to side by moving a mirror from one side of their body to the other. At two to four months, they can teach babies how to swipe by hanging a mobile or activity gym across the crib or carriage.

Babies normally have bowlegs at the ages of one and two and become knockneed before they reach seven, at which the condition corrects itself. If the abnormal condition that persists beyond these stages, doctors should examine for signs of rickets or prescribe braces to correct it.
