Effectiveness of prevention programs for adolescent pregnancy: a meta-analysis

Article Abstract:

There are mixed views in the US about the effectiveness of pregnancy prevention programs for adolescents. Research on this subject has used meta-analysis to assess 32 outcome studies on the primary prevention of adolescent pregnancy. It was established that pregnancy prevention programs have no impact on the sexual activity of adolescents. However, they do play a role in influencing contraceptive use and pregnancy rates. Contraceptive use improves in community-based programs more often than in school-based programs.
