University of California at Davis researchers report that phenolic flavonoids found in red wine reduce the oxidation process that clogs arteries. The study bolsters the view of many scientist that moderate red wine consumption has therapeutic value.

Congress declares wine appreciation week

'American Wine Appreciation Week' will be held from Feb 21-27, beginning in 1993. Congress has designated the week to honor vintners and grape growers. Women for WineSense was instrumental in getting the legislation passed.
