Christie's set to become a French-owned company

Article Abstract:

Christie's, a venerable auction house based in the United Kingdom, is set to be purchased for more than $800 million by Francois Pinault, a self-made billionaire and the president of holding firm Artemis of France. The planned sale of Christie's necessitates the endorsement of the deal by stockholders and is projected to take several months. Pinault expressed his delight in the planned increase of the stake of Artemis at Christie's, noting that 232-year-old auction house has huge business potential due to the continuously-growing international art trade.
