Dominus, Napa wine with a French accent, opens doors on unique winery

Article Abstract:

Christian Moueix opened the new 462-foot-long Dominus Estate winery in Napa Valley, CA, which has a full annual production capacity of approximately 30,000 wine cases. The new Dominus Estate winery was built for an estimated price of $8 million and is expected to have 50% of its production lines making the $90-per-bottle Dominus wine product. The new Dominus Estate winery in Napa Valley, CA, is also touted to be capable of facilitating the wine-production process, since it integrates all wine-production functions within a single facility.

A rugged first decade for Dominus

Dominus is a joint venture wine between Napanook vineyard in Napa Valley and famed winemaker Christian Moueix of Chateau Petrus in Pomerol, in the Bordeaux region. A vertical tasting of the wine shows it to be excellent.

Christian and Cherise Moueix opened their new winery, Dominus Estate, in May 1998. The 462-foot-long winery is made of dark green basalt and will probably produce approximately 30,000 cases of wine each year.
