Further up the food chain

Article Abstract:

Several developments in the EU food industry are discussed. The region needs to save 200 million euros in refund expenditure on 'Non-Annex' or non-processed foods known as Non-Annex II products prior to the last treaty revision. British and Irish lamb continues to sell poorly in French due to a glut of locally produced product; buyers are able to dictate prices, forcing wholesale prices down to the level of pork. There are signs of an upturn in the EU dairy market, and the Euro currency is recovering despite potential future problems. Some expect a US stock mraket crash to accelerate the recent Euro recovery, possibly hurting the German economy.
