Tremendous demand has driven up the prices of 1995 Bordeaux futures, and 18% to 20% of these were bought by US buyers, or about 300,000 cases. The 1995 vintage is excellent, and Ausone, L'Evangile, Margaux and Lafite Rothschild are among the top wines.

Prices of first-growth Bordeaux futures for 1996 are almost twice as high as 1995s in some cases. Wines from Chateau Latour and Margaux could be as much as $200 a bottle in the US, and second growths could reach $100. demand is high for the 1996s.
